Hello guys! My son has requested a pair of slippers from The Knitting Man(ual). He wants neon orange, or at the least very bright orange. I want to make them for him in 100% wool, without spending an arm and a leg. I can find plenty of acrylic neon orange yarn. I found some yarn that is close to 100%, but not in the neon/bright colors.
My school district canceled school today, so I busied myself getting a project done for a friend of mine. Initially, I was just planning on doing the socks, but had enough yarn left over to do a hat as well. So, he gets both. I tried something different with the socks. I used the heavy worsted wool, but instead of using the recommended US7 or US8 needles, I used US5.
No Knitting to share this time, just photos of what NW burbs of Chicago
look like with 13" of snow in two days and there is more falling. Why do we
live in this climate!?
Now where did I put that ticket to the tropics?
I was giving this yarn by a dear friend of mine on this site, Lou Chicquette. It is a beautiful, supple blend of 42% wool, 35% acrylic, and 23% Viscose. The yarn is by Berroco and is buttery soft that makes it a very pleasant yarn to knit.
I haven't investigated this site too much but what I did find looks
promising. Check it out if you get a chance. It is apparently free as are all
the back issues.
Amazing what people will knit.
I am making a new snake-like tube that I want to fill with either catnip, or something else that has been soaked in catnip. Have any of you made something like this? If so, what did you use to stuff it and how did you integrate the catnip into it? I tried some dried catnip last year and the toy was not as well liked as those bought at the pet store. Any suggestions?
For all the Whovians out there.....here's the trailer for the 50th anniversary special. Enjoy.
I have 475 yards of sock yarn that I got at the Colorado retreat that I think would make a nice shawl. Does anyone know of a pattern that would work with? It's for my 85yo mom and she just wants a shawl instead of a shrug.
Just finished a new pair of sock using the white wool/acrylic yarn that we were gifted with at the retreat. They are really nice and thick as they are heavy worsted but using US5 needles made the foot and heel tighter and I think that will make them a bit stronger.
