Dear Felting Gurus....

....  I need some opinions from those that have come before me.

I am finishing up a pair of clogs for Jim and the size if pretty straightforward, size 11.  I am about to start a pair for his mom who is a size 8.5.  The pattern is written for a womens size 6, 8, and 10.

My question is, do I knit a size 8 and felt it less producing a softer fabric or do I go for a 10 and felt it more for a stiffer one.  (and I have already thought of the "go for the stiffer one" joke).  I'm using Classic Elites' "Inca Alpaca" (100% alpaca)  So I assume that if I knit the larger I can get it down to size.

For You That Knit In the Night.......

..........you have to check these out.  Needles that illuminate your knitting.  So now you can go to the movies and purl your way through the popcorn!  I am tempted to buy a pair.    Knitparisienne

I Hate Me

I'm doing a pair of clogs and they are going along great.  Finished the first and was down to the outer sole of the second, got through the "hell" 2, 4, and 6 rows only to discover that I had picked up and used a size 11 instead of 13!

I said somthing a bit like "darn" only I think it was stronger.

I Believe Alcohol Was Involved

I just want to give a big thanks to Knitterguy Kev for getting together with me last night and 'trying' to teach me how to knit two socks at one time on one circ.  Thanks for both his knowledge and his patience.

The process is still a bit confusing for me but I am sure the dust will settle on that shortly.

So far I've managed to create the prettiest green rats nest from all the yarn, tails and cable, and that from just pulling the work out of my knitting bag this morning!  How's that for a no hassle project.

Oh Well back to it..........

Clogged

Ok, I get it now.  The wonder of the felted clogs comes from knitting the "ugly duckling" and knowing or hoping that it turns into a swan.

I'm on the first one and have gotten to the upper.   It, so far, has been an interesting project.  Once you decipher how the pattern reads it is fairly easy to do.

My thanks to Marty who is behind me (and I mean on this project) he has done some pairs and is a good source of help.

A big welcome to Parrot

Guys,

You need to check out Parrot's profile and go to his web page and look at his hand made needles... they are great.

Trying to Organize a Dallas Mens Knitting Group

Should there be any DFW metroplex men kitters... or if you guys know any that you can send my way.. I'm trying to get one together.  And you know what?  Contacting guy knitters in your area is DARN difficult.  I've already gone through the members list but so far to no avail.

So, I know you are out there and I'm a gonna find ya!

Thanks,

Chris

All Clogged Up!

Damn, that sounds awful!

Hey y'all,

After the next, oh, I don't know how many, projects that I have in the back of my head.  (simple.....isn't it?)  I'd like to do a pair of clogs.  (before that freezing weather moves into Texas. ) I had joined a Yahoo group that was, for the most part, totally useless and would like to hear suggestions from people who have done them as well as those who have done felting.  (it's good to be able to say again that this is my "first time")

Any thoughts or ideas are More than welcome.

Best,

Chris

Thanks again, and I hope we shall all become good friends.
