Ok, Ok......

....alright already!

For those of you who asked, the East Texas Christmas saga has just been posted on my blog texknitter.blogspot.com. complete with more pics from the weekend. For those of you who just don't care, you probably shouldn't anyway and I probably wouldn't blame you if you didn't.

And Mike.... the Algonquin, with the exception of just a few, embraced me dearly. There is one in particular that you know literally charms the pants off me!

All I know is my accent was a heck of a lot thicker when I returned.

Happy New Year y'all.

Checking in From East Texas

Hey folks,

As I sit here in the smack dab in the middle of 600+ acres of pastoral East Texas I want to wish you all the happiest holiday possible.

Jeff and I are house-sitting for his mother and doing the Christmas thing with the rest of his family, and they're a damn lot of them on the side. I swear this ranch house is so long there is a rest stop between the kitchen and the master bedroom!

I'll blog the weekend with pictures, y'all won't believe it. It's wonderful.

May that big Lone Star shine on you from afar.

Merry Chistmas from Texas y'all!

Christmas Cheer?

Wherever I go I try never to miss an opportuninty to locate other knitters to join our group here in Dallas.

Over the weekend I went to this great huge Christmas party and met a guy who had knitted in the past and was thinking of taking it up again and we hit it off pretty good. Trust me, I'll force him to take it up again.

Later in the evening myself and half a dozen members of the Turtle Creek Chorale, fantastic mens chorus, were at the piano singing Christmas carols and I was feeling pretty good, me singing with these great voices.

Between songs this guy walks up to me and says, "Chris when you sing it gives me goosebumps." Impressed with the compliment I replied, "Really?". and he says, "Yes, everytime you open your mouth my skin crawls!"

I like him.

No offense Mr. Grand

Your afghan is great but I am going to write anything and everything to get your huge pics to drop down. It's driving me nuts. Again, no offense.

Once upon a time there was this little divorced Texas boy with an affinity for bourbon. He was a part of this knitting group on the internet constantly talking with other knitters that live in the 'suburbs' of Texas; meaning any other state.

This boy was a good boy even when he was a little boy in pigtails. He always makes his bed. Opens doors for strangers and always finishes all his bourbon as he realizes his mother was always right when she told him that there are 'sober children in China' that would give their arm for a good sour mash.

(damn I have no idea where I am going with this)

This boy also was possessed with a a good heart. When one of his friends asked, "Why do you keep all these dead bourbon bottles around?" His response was, "Because I was with them when they died".

(I still dont know where I am going with this)

Many people berated this boy for his relationship with Makers Mark, telling him that he only drives home the way he does to pass that one particualar bar. Being the good boy he is, he responds, "I NEVER pass a bar and you know it!".

Another Strange But True

We changed the location of our Dallas knitting group, "Fruits and Fibers", to my bar for the first time last month.

My boss really got into the meeting and picked up a pair of needles and spent the night casting on and got the 'bug'.

Our next meeting is Monday and today Bruce, his partner, and this is true, turned to me and said, "I have got to go out and get Mike a pair of 'beginner' needles"; he was serious. (Bruce, that's what you get for growing up in Odessa)

I almost fell off my bourbon.

I Totally Forgot....

.... I never said what I was doing for Thanksgiving!

I have to work here at the bar until 1pm. The bar hosts a Thanksgiving buffet for our customers but Jeff, (the new guy I'm seeing, yeee hawww!) and I are off to a friends house for a drink or two before their buffet and then heading home to do a Thanksgiving for two. heh heh.

Menu:

Mixed Baby Greens Salas with Roasted Pears and Bleu Cheese

Roasted Cornish Hens stuffed with Wild Rice Pilaf and Orange Sauce

Creamed Spinach

Panna Cotta with Cranberry Cabernet Sauce

Wine: Gewertztraminer

And you know... I attach a pic of the little devil so y'all can take a gander at him.. warning.. he's cute!

Best to you all!
