In an earlier post I said that I'd check-out a couple of yarn stores while I was in Rome.

I'm off to Rome for a holiday tomorrow morning. Things have been so manic getting finished at the office that I haven't picked up the sweater I'm working on all week, and won't be taking it with me to Italy. I have, however, done my homework and will be visiting two of Rome's yarn stores and will report back with what I find.

Just noticed a really good review of Rowan Purelife British Sheep Breeds yarn on the Knitters' Review website.

I was eyeing-up this stuff on Saturday, particularly as I'm craving natural, undyed yarns at the moment.

If you haven't been impatiently checking the Knitty website in the last day or so, you may not know that the autumn (fall?) edition of this on-line magazine is now available. Along with our very own "Men Who Knit", Knitty has to be one of the best resources for news and creativity on the net (they aren't paying me to say this, not even in free yarn).

So I managed to get up early to stand in a very long queue for the start of London’s I Knit Day 2008 exhibition on Saturday. With the exception of a couple of trips to yarn stores, this is the closest I’ve come so far to admitting that I’m a [whispers] “man who knits”.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I had a distinct feeling that I'd lost something important when MWK went off-line due to high band-width usage. I visit this site at least daily, often more.

Only recently I was sympathising with StuartWS who got the feeling that "The knitting gods must be angry with me".

Are there any other closet knitters (or even out-and-proud ones) over in the UK who are going to "I Knit Day 2008"?

I'm planning my next project and wondered whether any of you guys have good experiences of knitting aran sweaters in the round?
