I am going to be in St. Paul/Minneapolis in August. Where are the good yarn stores ?

We just got back from our trip to Europe. I was a bit worried about getting my knitting through security, since they took it away from me in Guatemala, in January.

I am leaving tomorrow for Amsterdam and then in 5 days on to Provence. Are there any yarn shops in either area that I should look for ? Any suggestions are welcome.

Does anyone have a pattern or know where I can get a pattern for either knitted or crocheted curtains ?I want to make some for my dining room.

I am working with lace weight baby alapca yarn, for a lace scarf. The yarn is very fine and I do not want to join my next skein with a knot.
