Quick Big Knits

Here is more quick knits, for those really cold climates. But I do think he needs a scarf.

Quick knits

Here is a mitten some of you may like to try. It is knit up quickly, and should be quite warm and toasty. What do you think?

Greetings of the Season

I try to at least read the posts here, and haven't had much time for writing anything new or responding to anyone else.

I look around and can't see much that I've done, but I've been busy with something, I know that! There is a reason they call this the "silly season".

More yarn

I have been spinning most of the spring and summer (is it fall already?) and finally have some yarns plied.

This is some grey that was a Merino/silk blend. It was so much fun to spin, which is why I spent so much time doing it! It was prepared beautifully (which makes spinning so effortless) and it wanted to be a very fine yarn. I had no choice in the matter!

Completed afghan

Sometime early this year, I found a bag with three large balls of yarn at a second hand shop. This was most unusual -- normally, there are only odd balls left over from a project. But this was an entire kit, complete with instructions, and about 6" of it started, with the cable needle still in the stitches. I conjured up all sorts of scenarios of what happened and how this ended up at the store.

Fall colours

Early this summer, when looking through a thrift shop, I located a large bag with three large balls of yarn in it. Upon investigation, I noticed it was a kit for an afghan that someone had begun, and never got to finish. Everything was there: the yarn, instructions, cable needle still in the stitches. The price was right, so what else could I do but buy it.

A Fine Day

Last week, on our regular spinning day, I took the day off work so that I could enjoy our year-end outing. The ladies usually like to plan a little trip somewhere to spin and have lunch. This year, we travelled about an hour south of the city to a small farm of a lady that is also a spinner. It was a lovely day, with sunshine and gorgeous blue skies! We haven't seen that for ever so long.

Best iPad case

Well, that's how it's billed. Here is a video where you have a chance to win two of them! But more importantly, take a look at the design, and think: can I do this? Of course you can!! It's a nice design, and simple to do. Some of you have iPads (I don't) so you may want one of these for yourself.

SKYP sock

These were completed last week. I wanted to make a pair of socks for my mother, I had the yarn sitting here for a long time, asking to be knit into socks, but I needed to find the right pattern.
