I get some awesome emails from people all over the world with something of the same theme: they’re now grown adults, with children of their own, still holding on to a teddy bear given to them when they were tots. Some are hidden in closets, some are proudly on display, and some have been heir loomed off to a younger generation who we all hope will cling to the little bear with love.

I started this quite a bit ago but just finished it this week. The pattern is English Crystal by Marianne Kinzel. I used Jamieson and Smith Lace Weight Shetland wool and 5mm needles. I did an 8 stitch sideways border (k 2, yo k2tog, k to end on each row) and scalloped it during the blocking process. It measures 68 inches square and it took 175 gms. A gift for my niece.

I just finsh knitting a Hedgehogs. It is so damn CUTE!
What's you guys think? It came out is really tiny and hard to take a pic with this little guy.

I've started the next sweater for my new grandson, Bennett who just turned 3 weeks old. ( I am doing 4 for this winter and glad they knit up fast) The free pattern is called Johnny Boy a web exclusive by Berroco using their sox yarn. I've substituted a German yarn Schafpate Baden - Wurttemberg "Opal" a pull over and sock yarn. It is 75% virgin wool yarn & a 25% polyamid.

Bob and I hit the road this last week for a mad dash through Colorado and New Mexico to hit some of national parks and see the Taos New Mexico Wool and Fiber Festival. Enough of that though, here I will just discuss the knitting I did on the road. Sorry, I can't imagine you all want to see my slide show of Carlsbad Caverns and what not... Sometime early this year, I found a bag with three large balls of yarn at a second hand shop. This was most unusual -- normally, there are only odd balls left over from a project. But this was an entire kit, complete with instructions, and about 6" of it started, with the cable needle still in the stitches. I conjured up all sorts of scenarios of what happened and how this ended up at the store.

Yesterday was cold and damp in St. Louis. Wife out of town visiting the new grandson this past week so I spent the day at the yarn shop knitting in the company of friends. I got a lot done on Bennett's ribbed baby jacket. Came home had supper and complete the jacket at 9:00 pm and went to put it together and had trouble. Found a mistake and had to rip out three hours of work.
