When using short rows I end up with small holes at the point where I wrap and turn. These holes almost look like yarn over holes. Is there any way to do short rows without these little holes?

Just finished four Willie Warmers adapted from patterns by Robert Jenkins and QueerJoe found on Ravelry.

It's called an Irish hiking hat. I love making it and it's incredibly warm and comfortable. It looks just as good on a guy as a girl of course depending on the color.

Guys,
Better to cast off, leaving the yarn on the left and then immediately cast on?
or
Better to cast off, knit to the end of the row, then backwards loop cast on?
Other methods?

Hi Guys,
