So, here I sit watching TV, IMing my sweetie with two projects on the futon next to me. I am working on the second of my first set of socks; there are some mistakes but I am proud of my effort (as is sweetie and moms; dad asked if I was sure they would fit) and I am sure that I will correct them next time around. I happen to like socks as a travel project because knitting in the round is good for me on the subway and Amtrack. I cannot knit and drive, the police get upset at that don't you know? but so long as I have time to sit and knit I find socks one of the most portable.
I am also working on a wine bottle cozy, loosely based on a Knitty.com design. What happened was I was interested in cabling and decided to make a cabled wine cozy; this is my current couch project.
I AM going to knit something big soon. I have been taken by the golf vest pattern in "Sweaters for Men" by Phelps and Hiatt. I am currently shopping for the correct yarn. But then I ran into a bit of a problem. Sweetie posted some pictures of what her sister was knitting, and I was quite taken by a cable hoodie pattern.
What to do? What to do?
So far I am going with a vest out of Ausi wool (a New York LYS "Seaport Yarns" has it at a good price and in many cool colors) in some form of tweedy green or maybe a nice wine color.

check out my blog --

and see what Gregg's sweater looks (looked) like - we're in the process of tearing it all out to start over (new pattern, old yarn)
it's all there for everyone to see - and laugh.
:)
Also a photo of a new knitting guy recruit who I taught on Saturday with a friend -
and photos of yarn that is being added to my stash!
