Photo of INOX Line Marker

Everyone has been helpful and I appreciate the response. I decided to put a photo of the item I'm looking for. The book calls this a "line marker" but I see on the item it's called a "pattern marker". I'm still looking!

Finished My First Pair Of Socks

I finally finished my first pair of socks. House socks out of cheap Wal Mart worsted weight yarn. Not fancy or anything but as their only my second project, I'm kind of proud of them.

They actually fit and amazingly enough they actually came out the same size. I was convinced I'd wind up with two different sized socks somehow.

Now I have to decide what I am going to try next. Another pair of socks, an Irish Hiking Scarf to learn cabling, or a hat. Decisions, decisions.

Centre pull balls

Does anyone know if centre pull balls of yarn must be started from the centre rather than the outside? The yarn I'm using at present is a centre pull but I started from the easy to find outside end, and the yarn is untwisting as I knit. I have to let go of the yarn after two stitches so it can retwist, makes for slow knitting.

Heart Felt VD Present

This is the “Heart-Felt Wishes” bowl from www.fiberfemmes.com. Bad puns aside, I think it turned very well.

I used two stands of Patons Classic Wool and size 13 needles, just like the pattern called for.

It went surprisingly fast, and I almost had it on time to give away on valentines day.

I blame Physics homework for the delay.

Sadly, I have just discovered that my fancy new W/D is not that great when it comes to felting projects. I had to finish this one off by hand. Considering I already have the yarn for at least three more felted projects, I am gonna have to start doing laundry at friend’s houses. That’ll be fun.

INOX Line Marker

I'm trying to source the INOX line marker but have had no success yet; it may be no longer available. This brand is not available here in NZ and I can't find this item on-line. For reference, this item is shown on page 11 of "The Big Book of Knitting" by Katharina Buss.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Cheers!

EDIT UPDATE 19 FEB: I HAVE ATTACHED A PHOTO SHOWING EXACTLY WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR.

Source for buttons

I'm currently working on a sweater that will eventually require some buttons, and I'd like to use something a little more special than the plastic ones you buy on a card at the fabric store. Can anyone suggest an online source that has a good inventory of interesting buttons? I'm looking for understated quality rather than flashy. Glass, maybe? Metal? Bone?

yarn, the new crack

Last night I was at a local knit night at another LYS. I used to avoid this one as pretentious and stuffy, too precious and expensive, and then in a stroke of marketing genious, this upber-white, waspy store hired the only black woman working in a PDX LYS. Thank DOG for Terrisa (that is the correct spelling....it's a Quaker spelling, I am told). Now the store rings with laughter and humour, and a bit more champagne during the knit nights. HOWEVER....damn yarn sale. After last weekend's unexpected yarn adventure, I promised myself that I would buy NO MORE. That vow lasted a whopping 5 days: Tahki Donegal tweed at 30% off. How could I possibly resist? I was good boy, though....I only bought $40 worth. (IT'S A MIRACLE!) 2/16/07....15 hats knit thus far... I wish I had thought to photograph them all before I sent them away. Love to you all from misty Portland.

LACE!

Grrrrr...the lace yarn I've been waiting on arrived. It's beautiful 50/50 wool and silk. I've cast on now 3 times and have gotten about six rows into the pattern...then poof..I somehow, added six stiches into the pattern (well not exactly somehow), I got too big for my britches and stopped paying attention. I'm determined to conquer this but right now I just need to vent. Damn Lace!

Bored

I got bored with the sweater I was making because it is all knit stitches, so I decided to make a sweater for my husband's favorite aunt. Since she's Greek, and very proud of it, I decided to incorporate a Greek key pattern. I'm doing it in a double knit so that it will be pretty on both sides. It's being knit with Cascade 220 on size 10 needles, to keep it soft. Here's a picture of the work in progress.

I was under the weather on Superbowl Sunday. Did anyone make it to their LYS for the Superbowl sales? Pick up anything interesting?
