Dudes of Knitting: I'm working on a sweater that calls for a provisional cast off, in contrasting yarn for the gusset stitches. I've googled it and all I get is provisional cast on.

I made a pair of heavy socks for my brother-in-law who does a lot of outside work in the winter. I used Briggs and Little Tuffy and 4mm needles.
