A friend who is in "Recovery" recently went through some AA stuff with me replacing yarn for alcohol. I am here to testify, with all due respect to those in recovery, that I am a knitaholic:
Answer YES or NO to the following questions.
1 - Have you ever decided to stop knitting for a week or so, but only lasted for a couple of days? (~Yep)
2 - Do you wish people would mind their own business about your Knitting stop telling you what to do? (~Yep....just ask FuzzyJay: I snapped at him in chorus practice for interrupting my knitting.)
3 - Have you ever switched from one kind of yarn to another in the hope that this would keep you from knitting so much? (~ I thought knitting in cotton or acrylic would slow me down. It did, but not enough, not enough.)
4 - Have you had to have an eye-opener upon awakening during the past year? (I have a hat-in-progress on my beside table)
5 -Do you need to knit to get started, or to stay awake, pay attention? This is a pretty sure sign that you are not knitting "socially." (I knit in chorus rehearsal, church, traffic jams)
6 - Do you envy people who can knit without getting into trouble? (I got in trouble for knitting while singing in chorus rehearsal).
I'm building a knitting tote that will carry all my stuff. I was thinking of inside and outside pockets. Any ideas?
Thanks,
The Man Knitter

I am a new member have been on a couple of days and would just like to say hello to everyone. I look forward to seeing new projects done and showing my own. Drop me a line some time.

I finished a pair of socks for my wife. They are in a 30% wool, 20% silk, 50% acrylic blend. My gauge must have been off - a little large for her. Any way to shrink?

Iam in Chat room. Anybody want to talk?
come on over!!!

I've been lurking here for a few days now. No one ever in chat room. Whats up?

Well, Possums. I received a birthday gift from the man I'm courting...He lives across the country in western New Hampshire. He sent me YARN(!) from the woolen farm/mill just down the hill from him (!!!!!!). {PLEASE ignore the little robot in the background, frantically waving it's arms, exclaiming....DANGER WIL ROBINSON! DANGER!] It's not fancy, but excellent quality: The type of wool that you'd use to make a aran sweater that will last generations. Hmm. A stash enabler....this one has definately potential....

Helloo....I should be knitting right now, but seeing as I am so frustrated right now I can't see straight, so I know if I pick up a pair of needles, not to mention a set of five dpn to knit a sock, I know I would have a real mess on my hands. Knitting usually relaxes me, but today I think I would find that it would just frustrate me even more. Thanks for listening, hope everone has a better day than I am having.
Happy knitting!!!

I have to tell you that Bishop's yarn in Chatsworth, CA is going to have a HUGE yarn sale this coming week - they have already put out the yarn and it's ready to go - they open on Tuesday at 10AM - I think they're selling all the "fun fur/funny/railroad, etc." yarn for $2 a ball - on Thursday the actual sale hits, and they'll be selling it all for $1 a ball!!!!) - I'll be there on Saturday to help out, but I did my pre-purchasing today while we set everything up - it's an amazing opportunity for those of us who like novelty yarns (even to bulk up our stashes) - for charity knitting, scarves, hats, baby things, whatever..
I can't guarantee the pricing of the sale, but I CAN guarantee if you like eyelash type yarn or fuzzy stuff, you'll be in HEAVEN!
if you're in the area, make sure you visit!
hugs
Kyle
