Many people think that the internet is cold and impersonal. While it's true that it can be, this is not one of those places. It has turned out, in the last few days, to be an even more warmer and inviting place to be than I ever could have imagined.
I am overwhelmed with the love and support I have recieved from all of you. Enough so, that I might have to cover the keyboard in plastic to keep out the salt water. Believe it or not, I have actually 'felt' each and every one of the cyber-hugs I have recieved from y'all and your wonderful words are eternally etched in my heart.
Hello out there!! Finally got the dpns I needed for my delicious Koigu yarn courtesy of the new I Knit London shop, where I had the pleasure of meeting Craig and Gerard, two lovely chaps! Looking forward to seeing them again soon! My socks are taking shape, although I must admit I'm freaking a bit at what's taking shape!! I didn't realise the increase in needle and yarn size would produce SO much of an increase in sock size!! I'm so used to the 'slim' results from the fingering weight, but I suppose that's the adventure!! Anyway, photos of a new pair soon hopefully!! Ciao for now! Ivan
Does anyone know anything about Nicky Epstein? She has published a few books, her latest is called Knitted Flowers but I only discovered her recently and still have not see any of her books.
Well, the sweater is going a lot easier than I thought. I have become a man possessed. I am knitting whenever I get free second.Coffee shops, work, home, etc. In 3-4 days I finished the front and I am about 3/4 done with the back. I am by nature, not a fast knitter, but I am methodical.
I will post some pics later. Now I must knit!
Also, some of you showed interest in the "knitting culture" of Japan. Long story short.... Japan is even more chauvenistic than you could possibly guess. I think the woman at the yarn store almost had a heart attack when I walked in. Men do men things and women do women things here (for the most part) and I guess they think knitting is a woman's thing.
How "Butch" is this??? ...a forged steel hook for carrying a ball of yarn while you knit... http://www.cjpatterns.com/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CJP&Product_Code=KW
Or shoud I say men's night! We've been open 2 weeks and we've only had 1 man so far but I don't care we are committed to having a male knitting group in our great capital. Well, women are welcome but men are the centre of attention for fridays. I think if we persevere we might just make it work.
I wish we could see Chris Vandenberg aand Stckywarp and JPaul and all the rest of you but maybe we might see Ivan The Terrible, with a name like that I really hope so , Ivan I think you might need some DPN.
So, for Fridays, pray for men, London needs them.
Well hopefully you guys might be reading this, my third attempt to get something on here!!! My computer hasn't been behaving! Just to say a HUGE thankyou for such a warm response to just titles so far!! I'm VERY excited to have found this place to share my knitting-related thoughts, joys and frustrations!! My mother taught me basic stitches when I was just into my teens, and I managed to put together a few scarves and a VERY basic sweater made from rectangles of garter stitch...I seem to remember it looking quite cool under dungarees (EEK!!!). A girlfriend of mine started to knit a couple of years ago, and I picked up some needles one evening with her and haven't stopped since!!
So, this summer I whipped up a scarf. Fancy that. I deisgned the rudimentary pattern. There is more info on my blog... except Blogger just ate my post. So there WILL be more info there.
I finally get two days off in a row. It is about time...
This means I am going to get some long over due knitting in... I hope to knit for at least 4 hours each day.
Which is good since it is getting close to christmas and it is time to start working on christmas gifts for family....
well I am off to knit everyone have a good weekend.
