Stupid question of the week - you have a pattern for a cable - but want to work the garment the other verticle direction; do you just work the chart top down ?

Tracey Ullman was interviewed on National Public Radio's Morning Edition today about her new knitting book. It was good to hear the knitting content, but they essentially cast the craft as the exclusive domain of women. Anyone else care to correct their assertion? Text and audio can be found here, and they have an e-mail generator for people who wish to respond to any content from the show.

I am on my third time 'round on this shawl - the first was an experiment to see if I could do it; the second was an attempt to figure out what I did on the first one (which I botched - though the result was nice) - see Thread on another forum for lots of babble regarding both).
This third atempt got side-tracked as well - it is pretty similar, but not the same. I need a secretary!
There are links to pictures of both the first and second attempt on the other forum. Hopefully posting this here will make me get off my duff and take a picture of the current incarnation.

Here is the new scarf I started last night ... Winter is coming.
Thanks for all your nice comments to my yarns www.handpaintedknittingyarns.com.
Because it is for retailers, you are at a loss ordering. Easy: I offer only to all menwhoknit guys the drop ship price, to save big. Print the drop ship order form, fill in, fax or email.
(I hope, it is OK to say this here.) Thanks guys and have a good stitch.

My best friend was going to Des Moines and needed a gift for 2 friends of ours. Being that they are both like us and have no problem finding the bottom of a drink, we wanted something special that they could use while drinking. So I Googled Knit Beer Cozy Patterns and found several choices. These 2 were my favorites.
The beer cozys were a big success and both Iris and James squeeled like a couple of girls when they got them.

Hi Guys,
after weeks creating my new yarn store www.handpaintedknittingyarns.com
I am back to heavily knitting.
Just finished a purse from my yarn, which I felted into a nice tough fabric. Need to sew the sides and add the handle. It is a nice one evening job.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!! Do you know how wonderful it was to log on and see Okknitguy's charming face!!!!! I feel like I'm home again! Thanks!
Hi, Gentlemen. I just finished a beginning knitting class (3-2 hour classes). Now, I get to do my first project. The teacher suggested that we not start with a scarf or at least if we do then do a scarf from a pattern. I would appreciate any suggestions!

Just finished a purse from blacksheepbags. I think its a Booga Bag. Did the Icord handle last night. So right now, I have two purses, and two pairs of clogs to felt. I just haven't been in the felting mood. I am also going to try to felt them at my office in the top loader we have. I'll study and felt at the same time! :-) I think I need to whip out like 3 more pairs of clogs, and about 8 purses before Christmas! Wish me luck!
