Before I was a college-dropout, I was a linguistics major and find great delight in regional variations in language. While making flash cards for one of English students, I realized that the past tense of knit can either be knit or knitted.
I was wondering if you good people would indulge me and reply back whether you "knit a scarf yesterday" or if you "knitted a scarf yesterday" and where you're from.
Here's how I conjugate it in the past tense:
I knit a scarf yesterday.
You knit a scarf yesterday.
He/She knitted a scarf yesterday.
Greetings from the land of NASCAR and barbecue wars. I'm a librarian in North Carolina who's trying to start a knitting group for teens. The girls are responding but the guys are slow to buy in. I'm posting a flyer with "Man Enough To Knit Strong Enough To Purl" and photos of men of various ages knitting, but I could use some suggestions. I'm over 50. Any ideas on what might appeal to the younger crowd? Thanks in advance for your insights.

Um, well I have started a new project which really is just a scarf but working with a different textured yarn which is the new part. I also just bought more needles, a pattern and yarn for another project and i have some other yarn for another project that I am thinking about. Starting to get piles of knitting things. Is this a disease I have caught??
Joined last week and thought I would say hello. I am NOT a man, but I hope you guys don't hold it against me! I am a designer who is VERY interested in designing men's knits and hope to learn from all of your experiences. I think the current availability of designs is pretty slim, and would like to work on changing that.

Hi Everyone:
I was wondering if any, some or all of you guys that are retired or not so retired or working par time
, if you get together during some daytime hours in the city of San Francisco for coffee and stitches. I will like to meet with other guys for that here in the City, maybe you do it in other cities, I will like to hear from all of you.
Andy

I was planning to go to the center today and work on my scarf. I decided to wait until next year. I have been very busy with a new crochet group on MSN http://groups.msn.com/crochetdepot . This is part of what I do. I am still knitting my scarf and got some nice yarn from a store in Daly City call Beverly's Crafts? Anyway it is a big store with lots of yarns, I will remember that for next time.

Some of you knew Grannyguy, from Crochetdepot.org. He was my friend and the friend of a lot of you. He wanted to learn how to knit, I did webcam training with him, but I was not a good teacher, we laughed he could not cast on as I taught. Today I am a bit sad, Scott and I developed a fast friendship, we liked each other a LOT. Nevertheless we were flirting friends. His health has not been very good, I called him every day to cheer him up. I was not able to talk to him since Tuesday, last nite he came to visit in a dream to tell me he died. I was disturbed by the dream and woke up, and he was sitting by the side of the bed, then he vanished. I loved him very much I wanted him to join this site. He will be missed, but will be present in our memories for all times. Thanks for the opportunity to express my emotions. Andrito ama a Tito.

HI Everyone:
I was inspired by a friend of mine on the net, http://colamanknits.blogspot.com , his sweater gave me the inspiration for this scarf which I may bring to the Community center to continue my work with the inspiration of the other peple as well. Anyway it is on of the projects I have for the holidays along with my hats.
