I am searching for information on doing steeks. Anyone out there doing them or had experience to share? If you can contribute to any of the following, it would be appreciated:
1. Any references (book or on-line) for doing steeks;
2. Any experience you've had and tips you'd like to share;
3. The different methods for doing a steek; and,
4. How to do steeks for necklines, cardigan fronts and armholes.
Hey everyone, I am thrilled to announce that I just finished my very first sacrf! ...I think it turned out pretty well for having basically taught myself.
Needles to say, I have begun yet another scarf (I'll do one more before branching out into something more complicated, any suggestions?). I found that I didn't know what to do with my hands for the three days between projects. I am truly obssesed!
A word of thanks to everyone for thier kind advice, I am finding this site to be a priceless resource!
...Which brings me to my next question....
So - what's the most exotic fiber you've worked with, either spinning or knitting.
I am often tempted to get som qiviut, possum, yak, bison, etc.
And some of the stranger fibers from habu - pineapple? stainless steel?
but I'm too much a New Englander by nature and nurture to spend the cash!
Good evening, men. I've been knitting for some time, but have just recently discovered the joys of knitting socks!
Of course, I expect to be motivated to push myself into other areas of knitting once I hear and see what you all are doing!
When's the next chat, by the way?
Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to the poll about a scheduled chat session. 55 people voted . . double what I had expected . . and 51% indicated that they either want a scheduled chat or often check the chatroom when they log on to MWK.
So, the first scheduled GENERAL CHAT will be scheduled for this Thursday, August 3rd, 10PM EASTERN- until whenever. This way, hopefully, you will know that if you log into the chatroom then, someone should be here to chat with you. Chat about whatever you like. It will just be a way for everyone to meet, especially the new members.
I know I have been pretty quiet for the last few days, got my reasons, but going to do the clog chat tonight at 10pm eastern, which means 7pm pacific and who's on first???..... Lars will let me know.
And welcome to all the new guys out there!!! You'll love it here. Write me... I can tell you who to avoid! hmm
I mayt be missing something very obvious - but when I look at "recent posts" some of the titles have red astericks next to them - and I can't see any sort of pattern for it. what do the astericks mean?
Hello everyone! Just a little bit more about myself: I am completely new to knitting - I just started teaching myself today, haha. I have been crocheting since I was about 8 years old, but as I grew older I began to form an interest in knitting as well. So I began researching it and here I am. I guess I'm off to a decent start. I guess having some history in crocheting helped out a little.
I am exicted to be a part of this new community! I was happy to have stumbled across this website. I look forward to getting to know many of you.
hey guys, i stumbled across this webpage while i was surfing around tonite. i have no idea who created this art, or what the parent site is for, but i thought the knitted items were great from an artistic standpoint. please be aware that the subject matter may not be suitable for children....
Here is what I did over the weekend.
I painted on a skein of yarn, a combination of a silk lace, merino wool and mohair. Could not wait to knit a sample. Look for yourself.
