Last year cable project

I'd like to share some photos of a project I did last year for my partner. It's not perfect in terms of shape but I enjoyed the complexity of it. it took me a year to complete as I was on a mission to get the cable absolutely right... I'd like to develop a "cable" section on this site so if you have any ideas or patterns you'd like to share feel free to contact me.

Dear God what a sweater!! Are you from or born around the part of the British Isles where this form/design of knitting was developed?

What a beautiful cardigan, and it will be so warm. I still have an Aran cardigan knitted by my partner for me when we lived in London in the 80s.

Wow Claude, I never expected the back to be as detailed as the front. It's amazing. So well done!

Well, I have to admit, you have just become THE master cabler in my eyes. Your sweater is sheer genius! You expertly executed that sweater from design to creation. And, to have such detail front AND back...there are not enough adjectives in my vocabulary to properly bestow upon you and your work. Wonderful, wonderful work Claude. You should be proud.

Man, I just got to say it again. That sweater is a total wet dream. I've put your pictures of it on my desktop. It's a total inspiration. The cabling is stunning, of course, but for me it's just the whole look of the thing. The construction of it. That's really my knitting goal: to do something just like that. All the best to you. You are a real artisan. Glad you've joined this group. You've enriched us.

Thanks to all of you! I didn't expect such a feed back!
I made the design by adjusting some "classic" Aran patterns. I got lost a few times and missed crossed so many of the turns, but I was on a mission to get it right so probably spent more time un-knitting than knitting!
It's a little on the large size but I wanted something comfortable and casual (although it can gives you a headache just by looking at it too long)
I'm hoping to start posting some "how to do" patterns soon for those who want to have a go at Aran knitting, but being originaly from France I have to brush on my English translation first...
Once again thanks guys!

Ps for Tom: I am very flattered by your comments. I am really enjoying being with this group.
Ps for Barrington: Cheers mate! You are too kind...
Ps for Steve: You'll have to explain to me the "nubby nu nu" as I feel it's nice, but I am not sure I fully understand it :-)

Claude, this is an absolute STUNNER of a sweater. Truly amazing work, and such incredible attention to detail. I hope your partner appreciated all the work you put into it. It's outstanding.
