Men Who Knit on Dr. Oz

Greetings fellow knitters. Just wanted to let you know that a couple of weeks ago the Dr. Oz show contacted me about MWK. They were working on a segment about MWK (in general) and asked for pics and info. I just got word today that the segment will air on Wednesday, October 3rd. Check your listings to see time. I can't wait to see what they prepared from what I sent to them! We are making national TV. Thanks for letting me be a part of your group and I hope that we get lots of positive press from this.

SEMKR 2012 Registration Deadline

Hey Guys! If you know anyone who is interested please let them know that I have set the deadline for this year's registration for Sunday, September 30th. I need time to contact all those involved and manage supplies, donations, reservations, and venue payment. You can PM me here if interested. Thanks!

New Wheel and First Fruits

The day before I went back to work (I am a school teacher by trade) I traveled to New Bern to check out a spinning wheel, and visit my brother and his family. We found the Majacraft Saxonie on Craig's List and the owner was willing to bring it to us. It turned out that my brother only lived a mile from Shirley, the owner. I tried it out, loved it and bought it for a steal, at least 1/2 what it cost originally. So I set out to spin on it and the pics below are the wheel, a hank of blue merino single, and my first 2 ply. Enjoy the pics!

Carolina Fiber Fest--This Weekend

Hey Guys! Just thought I would post here to let you know of the CFF. It is part of a larger Got to be NC festival. It begins Friday Morning and runs through Sunday evening. There will be classes, vendors, demos, and more. It is housed in the Jim Graham building on the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. For more info check out: Hope to see you there!

Called out for Knitting

I haven't posted in a while but needed to rant a little (please forgive me because I can't do this on Facebook). I am a teacher by trade and today was a workday. I knew I would be in meetings until lunchtime so I took a scarf I was working on (my wife and I are doing a bazaar tomorrow and I was working on inventory). My principal asked us to put away computers, phones, knitting...for a short activity. I gladly participated and picked up the knitting when we were discussing in small groups, etc.

Carolina Fiber Festival-Men's Fiber Meet Up and Shameless Promotion

Great News! The Carolina Fiber Festival will be held on May 18-20, 2012 at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, NC. I attended 2 years ago and had a great time. This year they are in the beginning planning to have a Men's Fiber Meet Up at the Festival! I think this was a great idea (I simply mentioned it in a message to the coordinator). Now the committee is working to find a sponsor, make a banner, and totally promote this as part of the festival! I am so excited! To check out the festival webpage visit,

My First Fair Isle

After attending a Sally Melville class 2 weeks ago, I decided to try my hand at a Fair Isle cap pattern I have had for years. I finished it last night. I love it and hope to do another color work project really soon. Enjoy the picture!
